Are you desperate to get back to your pre-pregnancy shape and clothes? You are not alone. There are lots of options out there for you to consider, but so you don’t get overwhelmed spending hours researching, you can read below to find out what might be best for you.
A Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck takes away unwanted fat and skin and can leave you with tighter tummy muscles.
Win-win right?
This non-essential surgery is not something you should jump into blindly, as with all surgeries conducted under general anaesthesia it carries the risk of complications, such as blood clot formation, experiencing an infection, damage inside the body, developing sepsis, or having raised scars.
To be considered for this procedure, you need to be close to your ideal weight and it is important to note that having it does not stop you from putting on weight in the future. The surgery takes around 3 hours and involves a cut being made from one hip to the other along your pubic area and a further cut around your belly button. Muscles are then tightened, and extra fat and skin is removed. The remaining skin is then pulled down to make sure your belly button is in the right place. This procedure leaves additional scars around your belly button and above your pubic area.
Following the surgery, you will need to remain in hospital for around 3 days, and you will be sent home with stitches still in place. Although every body is different, it is expected that it will take around 6 weeks to recover. You may find it helpful to carefully consider how you will manage at home during the recovery stage.
Spanx/Shapewear
Amazing, smoothing shapewear can serve two purposes- it helps postpartum recovery and helps you feel your absolute best! But don’t be fooled by shapewear that claims it will magically cause you to ‘bounce back’ to your pre-pregnancy size The only thing that can truly do that, is a healthy diet, exercise and working with me!
You may find certain types of shapewear uncomfortable to wear or restrictive, if so that particular item is not right for you. It’s great to know that the right type of postpartum shapewear can improve your posture, reduce back pain and soothe swelling around a C-Section scar.
